Says bauxite handling more dangerous and should be stopped as well

PANJIM: Dabolim MLA and Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho on Monday said that no coal handling at Mormugao Port will be allowed until anti-pollution measures are in place.
“Handling of coal without taking anti-pollution measures should be stopped. In other states there is a dome shaped facility within which handling of coal is done from where nothing comes out, if such a handling is there than only coal can be allowed to handle,” Godinho said adding “There should not be even one per cent of pollution”.
Further, he said that besides coal even bauxite handling at MPT is dangerous.
“Besides coal, what I am learning is that bauxite is also being handled. People don’t realise bauxite handling is more dangerous than the coal. It has to stop before coal, that is more dangerous,” he said.
