PONDA: Stating that there is no cure for COVID and that all arrangements have been made to provide treatment to increasing patients with sufficient ventilators, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Monday called for creating more awareness and even imposing fines on those for not wearing face masks. 

He was addressing at an awareness meeting of ministers, which was attended Cooperation Minister Govind Gaude, Ponda MLA Ravi Naik and others at Ponda Sub District Hospital. 

He said, “The views of MLAs, panchayat members should be taken into consideration to prevent the spread of virus. Doctors’ teams have been arranged in all COVID hospitals and our attempt is to treat critical COVID patients just on lines of treatment provided in Kerala. Plasma Bank will set up soon.” 

“We have 125 ventilators and 75 more will arrive. ESI COVID Hospital has 52 ventilators. We have plan B, if needed, 2000-bed capacity will be arranged. We already have 1500-bed capacity in place. WhatsApp group will be formed in all talukas to create awareness on COVID. Vehicles will be arranged to create awareness among people in villages which will continue,” he said.

The minister said, “There was miscommunication due to which MLA Sudin Dhavlikar could not attend the meeting.” 

Gaude urged the taluka residents to be more serious and observe social distancing and safety norms.

Naik said, “We have no experience in dealing with COVID cases, we are making maximum efforts to control the spread of COVID and people should cooperate.”
