PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Monday confirmed that no decision has been yet taken on when students will attend physical classes.

He pointed out that the new academic year had commenced via an online mode from Monday and that teachers resumed going to school as well. He said Education Department has instructed teachers on recording their classes, on preparing worksheets and other steps on reaching out to the students.

He also announced that Education Department has instructed teachers to provide individual counselling for Class 10 and 12 students regarding their future career options.

He said this will help students, who will soon get their board exams results, in ‘getting admission for some good courses’. He also pointed out that the government is facing a situation where 50 per cent of seats in engineering or technical education have been vacant for the last few years.

At another function, where government related organisations, colleges as well as resources came together for a two-week training session of coding and robotics education, Sawant spoke about how Goa will see a revolution in digitalisation.

“This is the first time all the Board’s have come together for a novel initiative like this. With this, many technocrats will be created in the State of Goa,” Sawant said.

Goa College of Engineering also hosted a two-week master training programme for 35 computer teachers, who will then train another 540 teachers.
