Panjim: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that Goa has enough medicines and every patient here is treated like a VIP.

In a video posted on social media, Rane said the State health department is in the process of procuring another 1000 vials of Remdesivir and rejected reports of shortage of COVID-related medicine in the State. He added that Goa has already received its first consignment of 30 vials of Remdesivir two days back from Hyderabad.

“The Health Department is in the process of procuring the necessary medicines to treat COVID-19. We have already procured 30 vials of Remdesivir, which is given to the patient between the 5th and 8th day as per the protocol laid by AIIMS.” Rane said.

He said the Health Dept has also put in a requisition for 1000 vials of Remdesivir. Health Ministry under the guidance of Secretary Health Nila Mohanan, Dr D’Sa, Dr Bandekar, Dr Edwin and their respective teams are doing a fantastic job at the forefront.

He refuted claims and reports in the media claiming there is shortage of COVID related medicines.

“Every patient is given VIP treatment. Our government is committed to serving the people of Goa. Utmost care is being taken at the COVID hospital.” Rane said.

About the condition of Cuncolim MLA, Rane said the BJP MLA Clafasio Dias is completely stable and is on assistive medicines.  It may be recalled that there were statements by the opposition MLAs recently raising doubts about the health status of Dias.
