NoMoZo on 18th June Road on March 3

PANJIM: As a part of four-day carnival festival, the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has organised NoMoZo - No Motorized Zone, at 18th June Road on March 3. The event would be full of fun and celebration.

CCP is all set to host the carnival festival on March 2-5. The traditional float parade will be held along Dona-Paula-Miramar road on March 2.

Samba Square at the Garcia de Orta (Panjim Municipal Garden) and Khel Tiatr, Tiatr and musical events will be organised at various prominent places like Mala, Caranzalem, Dona Paula, Altinho and Ribander during the four-day long carnival festival.

City Mayor Vithal Chopdekar said that to keep the carnival fever, the Corporation has decided to host NoMoZo on 18 June Road on March 3, which would be held from 3 pm to 10 pm. “Various events like road show, kick boxing, samba dance, karate competition, singing, dancing, cycling, have been organised,” he said. 

“The 18th June Road will be turned into no-traffic zone during that period,” he said. 

The Mayor said that tourism department has allocated Rs 26 lakh for the carnival, while the total estimated cost is expected to go up to Rs 32 lakh.

He said that the Corporation has approached the hoteliers and builders for voluntary sponsorship.
