PANJIM: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has directed the North Goa District Election (DEO) Officer R Menaka to conduct an inquiry into the complaint filed against Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai over his remark to weaponise the youths.

North Goa Congress District Youth President Vivek D’Silva, in his complaint to the CEO has said that Sardesai made the statement with intent to wage war against a government, duly instituted under the Constitution, and also against the people of Goa.

D’Silva has said that the statement is “an indirect attempt to threaten voters in Panjim, which is going for polls on May 19.”

Deputy CEO Sangeeta Naik said that North DEO has been directed to conduct the inquiry and submit the report at the earliest.

“Whatever action has to be taken will be based on the inquiry report,” she said.

Sardesai, during the inauguration of Goa Forward Party’s (GFP) Panjim office on May 7; had stated that he would weaponise the youth, while referring to the Goa University’s domicile controversy.
