Oceanographic measurements along Goa coast on cards

PANJIM: CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (CSIR-NIO) will carry out extensive oceanographic measurements in the open sea along the Goa coast from October to December, this year. The exercise is basically a scientific study of the ocean. 

The exercise will be undertaken in two phases, wherein phase one will include the coast from Sinquerim to Baga in the North where the study would be conducted from October to November and the second phase will begin thereafter covering the coast of Velsao to Mobor in South Goa. 

The exercise would be undertaken for a period of 70 days. The exercise will involve around measurements of ocean currents, pressure, temperature, salinity, sound speed, density, velocity, etc.

Barge owners, passenger cruises, ferry boats and fishing trawlers, playing along the project sites, are asked to take caution and be at a safe distance.

Captain of Ports has issued notice to mariners not to cause any hindrance.
