PANJIM: Every international passenger arriving in Goa will have to undergo a RT-PCR test, while those arriving from 12 Omicron hit countries will have to undergo 14 days institutional quarantine and other international passengers will have to undergo self-isolation.

A decision to this effect was taken during the high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday.

The meeting deliberated on measures to be put in place and protocols to be followed in the wake of the newly emerging threat of new Omicron variant of coronavirus.

The Chief Minister has asked people to be alert and take requisite precautions.

Sawant said a final decision on chartered flights is expected from the Government of India on Wednesday as there is no mention about chartered flights in the new protocol issued by the Centre.

Sawant said there will be no change in functioning of schools in Goa. Schools will function in the present format and there are no further changes, he said.

The officials of Directorate of Health Services, Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Bambolim, Goa Airport and Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) were present for the meeting.
