VASCO: The body of a crew member was recovered while six others were rescued and search operations by the Coast Guard continued after a barge 'Shri Krishna' with ten crew on board which had left from Jaigarh to Goa went missing on Thursday.  

According to the Coast Guard Goa DIG A Bose, "the Coast Guard after receiving a message immediately pressed its Helicopter Chetak and three ships in the rescue and search operations along with a Dornier sortie. 

The Coast Guard found the body of a crew member while two others were traced and rescued by the Coast Guard Helicopter and three other crew members were found by three different fishing boats and later handed to the coast Guard. 

The Coast Guard is continuing operations to trace and rescue the other crew members of the ill-fated barge.  Meanwhile, Dr Mayuri of The Chicalim sub district hospital said two crew members were admitted to the hospital by Coast Guard but were later transferred to GMC for further treatment. 

As per the information given by a reliable source from Indian Coast Guard, the crew members jumped into the sea after their barge encountered with some major problem on Thursday midnight at around 2.30am. 

Sources further informed that three ships of Coast Guard and two aircrafts were pressed into service in the search and rescue operation continued till late night on Friday.
