One drowned at Palolem

CANACONA: A native from Maharashtra, temporarily staying at Margao drowned at Palolem Beach after being swept away by strong waves on Monday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Sachin Bramhane, aged 27, a native of Chhadwel, Dhule in the State of Maharashtra, who was working in Goa and was temporarily staying at Madel in Margao.

According to Canacona police, the incident occurred on Monday afternoon, when Sachin had gone into the waters off the coast of Palolem Beach.

No foul play is suspected by the police as their initial investigation points out his drowning due to strong undercurrents, due to which the victim was swept away by waves.

“Drishthi lifeguards and the locals, who were on the beach at that time managed to pull him out of the waters and rushed him to the Community Health Centre at Chaudi, but he was declared dead on arrival by the floor doctors at the hospital,” the police informed.

“After conducting panchanama, the body of the victim was shifted to Hospicio Hospital, Margao for preservation and post mortem,” police mentioned.
