CALANGUTE: In a prostitution raid on two hotels in Calangute on Thursday, Calangute Police arrested a native of Uttar Pradesh and rescued six ladies.

In the continuing drive against prostitution, Calangute Police led by PI Nolasco Raposo on receiving information raided at two hotels and rescued six ladies from the rooms.

They apprehended 22-year-old Deepak Kumar from Uttar Pradesh, who had procured the victim girls at Calangute for prostitution purpose. An offence has been registered under Sections 370, 370(3) IPC and Sections 3,4,5 and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.

The victim girls were produced before the SDM, Mapusa Gourish Sankhwalkar and were lodged in the Protective Home at Merces. A letter is being moved before JMFC Mapusa for recording the detailed statement of the victim girls.
