PONDA: In yet another online cheating case reported to Ponda Police, Rs 1.89 lakh was fraudulently withdrawn from the bank account of a farmer from Marcaim.

The farmer said that Animal Husbandry Department had credited Rs 1.89 lakh online in his bank account in the Ponda branch of a nationalised bank. The money was deposited as support price for supplying milk to Goa Dairy.

The money was deposited on February 17, but the same was withdrawn on February 18.

This is the second incident of online cheating and cash withdrawal. On 11 February, a housewife from Bandora was duped of Rs 61,000.

An unknown person claiming to be a bank official, phoned the victim woman and asked for her ATM card details for verification. After the unsuspecting woman gave her ATM card details, Rs 61,000 was withdrawn from her account.
