PANJIM: Directorate of Education has asked schools to remain shut till February 15 and directed that classes will be held in online mode.
“As per the directions of the State Disaster Management Authority, the educational institutions in the State will remain closed till 15/02/2022,” Education Director Nagaraj Honikeri said in the circular issued.
The department has, however, allowed schools to call students for science practicals in a staggered manner by following COVID-19 appropriate behaviour.
As per the earlier directions, teachers will have to attend schools for conducting online classes.
In the view of the surge in COVID cases, the State government had shut all the educational institutions from January 5 to January 26. However, government has further extended the ban.
The Directorate has also asked heads of the institutions to ensure
that vaccination of children from 15 to 18 years of age is completed as soon as possible.
Nearly 80 per cent of the children are been vaccinated with first dose of Covaxin so far.
