PONDA: The release of 100 MLD water from Bhandara at Ockambi Dhanbandora besides around 70 MLD water pumped from the mining pits into Opa plant on Tuesday has increased the water level at Opa by almost 1.91 metres on Wednesday. The level had dipped to 1.75 metres on Tuesday.

The officials were satisfied and hoped there will be further improvement in the situation once two 150 HP capacity pump which have been ordered from Chennai. These pumps will help to draw water from the mining pits and the same are expected soon.

The WRD Department officials said they are targetting to draw at least 100 MLD water from the four mining pits besides around fifty MLD from Salaulim Dam and Ganjem Bandhara.

The officials said the mining pits have plenty of water to take care of the summer season and what is needed is to only pump and treat the water for which the necessary machinery is needed.

They however warned that if there is a delay in pre-monsoon Showers or late arrival of monsoon the Opa plant will have to rely completely on mining pits for water.
