MARGAO: The Working President of the Goa Congress Pradesh Committee (GPCC) Yuri Alemao has demanded that the government make the report of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on land grabbing public and file cases on the culprits across all political party affiliations.

While, Goa Trinamool Congress (TMC) also demanded that the SIT reveal the names of politicians involved in the illegalities.

He was speaking to media persons on Saturday.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant act and book the culprits

Yuri  said, “If there is involvement of politicians in land grabbing cases, the BJP government should not use it as a pressure tactic for political benefit of BJP. I demand that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant act and book the culprits immediately irrespective of their political party affiliations and make the SIT report public.”

“The mystery maintained by the IGP Omvir Singh Bishnoi over the involvement of politicians in the alleged land grabbing cases in Goa has created a suspicion over the role of the BJP government in the overall handling of the case. If there is involvement of anyone, Police should act and book the culprits,” Yuri added.

“There is a general impression in the country now that opposition MLAs and office bearers are targeted selectively for political advantage of the BJP. I urge the IGP not to come under pressure from the government in power and conduct a free and fair investigation. Those who are guilty should not be spared at any cost,” Yuri reiterated.

“The administrative failure of the BJP government during the last ten years has resulted in rise in manipulations and forgery of documents. The cases coming out now prove that the BJP government remained in deep slumber over the ten years and had no control on the administration,” Yuri alleged.

“It is important that police officials conducting the probe must maintain complete transparency in the investigation and should act within the preview of law. Let only those who are involved in the crime may be taken to task. Police should not target innocent politicians or the general public,” Yuri added.

The Goa Trinamool Congress (TMC) demanded that Special Investigating Team (SIT) reveal the names of politicians involved in the illegalities.

Addressing media persons, senior  leader Trajano D’Mello raised question on the integrity of the SIT, which has so far made 12 arrests in the land grab cases.

“Why has the SIT failed to reveal the names of politicians? The SIT is being used as a stick by the CM to silence politicians and control the opposition party. We can see how the SIT is being used against politicians within the BJP party as well,” he said.

D’Mello said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s repeated failure to issue terms and references of the SIT explains how manipulative powers are turning the whole investigation mysterious.

TMC leader said that the party has been repeatedly demanding that a judge be appointed as the head of SIT to ensure free and fair investigation.

D’Mello also demanded that illegal encroachment of even comunidade land should be transferred to SIT for investigation.
