PONDA: The Khandepar junction has been witnessing a series of road accidents since the last few months and now it's coming to the fore that misleading Google Maps may be one of the contributing factors to it.

The work of junction road for the newly built bridge is ongoing and it is still half-done. The locals have demanded to either complete the junction road or at least add changes regarding the route on Google Maps.

There is a high school in the vicinity and transportation of heavy container trucks as well as other motors poses a threat to the students.

Last year Union Home Minister Amit Shah had visited Dayanand Nagar-Dharbandora to lay the foundation of some project which is when changes were made on Google Maps regarding Ponda to Dharbandora route. The Map showed the route to vehicles coming from Ponda to take Khandepar junction road to Opa road to go on the bridge with the help of service road. The changes made then are still maintained on the maps which confuses the motorists when they reach near the junction. The vehicles coming from other states are mostly the ones to use the map service.

Locals have stated that if the vehicles travelling from Ponda are diverted towards the old bridge then the mishaps happening at the junction will be reduced.

The vehicles suddenly turn to the right after reaching the junction which puts other motorists in a state of confusion.
