PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday cautioned that charging people double the fine amount for linking PAN Card to Aadhaar Card is an offence. He requested the people to get their PAN Card and Aadhaar Card linked before March 31, 2023, which is the deadline.

The Chief Minister posted a video on social media informing the general public that it is an offence to charge a double fee for linking the two identity cards. “Anyone providing the PAN-Aadhaar linking services can charge Rs 1,000 as an official fine and a minimum fee for services. No one can charge a double fee for linking the cards and if someone is doing that then it is a punishable offence,” he stated.

"The Central government had issued a notice to the general public to link PAN Card with Aadhaar Card before March 31, 2022. But due to Covid-19 pandemic, the same was postponed to March 31, 2023, by paying a fine of Rs 1,000. PAN Card can be linked to Aadhaar Card online by paying the fine,” he informed.

"The Chartered Accountants (CA), Tax Auditors and Citizen Service Centres also provide services of linking PAN and Aadhaar,” he said.

The Chief Minister has urged the people of Goa not to panic and to get their PAN-Aadhaar linked before March 31, 2023.
