Independent Silveira vows to abolish SC/ST quotas
PANJIM: While there are dozens of promises made by the candidates, there is one unique and a stand out one by Independent Kenneth Silveira, who has promised abolition of reservations for SC/STs if elected by Panjim voters.
PANJIM: While there are dozens of promises made by the candidates, there is one unique and a stand out one by Independent Kenneth Silveira, who has promised abolition of reservations for SC/STs if elected by Panjim voters.
Silveira, who is moving around distributing his manifesto to the newspaper vendors, says he does not need to do door-to-door campaigning as people already know who he is.
Silveira says he wants to abolish reservations as he knows many rich people who have Mercedes and BMWs and want reservations. “The system has to go,” he said.
He has also promised Special Status to Goa saying all other politicians have just fooled Goans.
Asked whether it is practical to fulfill these two assurances, he says, “I have made promises which can be delivered and I am sure people of Panjim will get me elected,” he said.
Silveira says he is not into politics for money and wants to really work for the people. “I have enough and I am satisfied with it,” Silveira said.
