PANJIM: Srimad Vidhyadhiraj Teerth Sripad Vader Swamiji of Shree Gokarn Partagali Jivottam Mutt, Partagali, passed away following a cardiac arrest on Monday. He was 76.
Chief Swamiji of Gokarna Mutt attained Moksha with the divine. Partagali Jivottama Math is the first Goud Saraswat Mathas of the Dvaita order, a system established by Madhvacharya in the 13th century AD. This matha also called Partagali Jivottama Mutt after a place near Goa.
Swamiji was the 23rd pontiff of the mutt, which was founded in 1475 AD. Shree Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Mutt is one of the three religious orders of the Goud Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) community. Swamiji had a large following in Goa and Karnataka and left a mark across the nation with his spiritual preaching.
Various leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Governor P S Sreeddharan Pillai, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat and others condoled the death of Swami of Paratagali Mutt.
Modi tweeted, “Saddened by the demise of His Holiness Shrimad Vidyadhiraj Teerth Sripad Vader Swamiji of the Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math. He will be remembered for his extensive service to society particularly in healthcare. Condolences to his countless followers. Om Shanti.”
Union Minister of Styate for Agriculture Shobha Karandlaje said, “Deeply pained by the passing of Hisa Holiness Srimad Vidhyadhiraj Teerth Sripad Wader Swamiji of Shree Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Mutt. His immense contribution in spiritual, social and religious field will always be remembered. Om Shanti.”
In a condolence message, Governor Pillai said, “Swamiji was a scholar, a sage, a companion of the needy and above all a deeply religious person and a true humanist in the best traditions of our ancient culture. In his passing away, the world and especially the State of Goa has lost a true sanyasi in every sense of that term. I join all his disciples across the world and the State of Goa in sharing this irreparable loss.”
Sawant expressed his grief over the death of Teerth Swamiji Mathadipathi and said, “Swami Mathadipathi served humanity through education, health care, and service to the needy. Swami Ji was respected and revered by people from all the communities. His passing leaves behind a deep spiritual void. My condolences to all his followers.”
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said, “Saddened to hear about the passing away of His Holiness Srimad Vidyadhiraj Teerth Sripad Vader Swamiji of the Partagal Mutt. I extend my deepest condolences to the devotees of Swamiji! Om Shanti.”
Kamat said, “My pranam and tribute to my Guru His Holiness Srimad Vidhyadhiraj Teerth Sripad Vader Swamiji of Shree Gokarn Partagali Jivottam Math, Partagali Goa on his Mahanirvaan Today. His immense contribution in religious, spiritual and social field will always be remembered.''
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary and Goa incharge C T Ravi said, "Deeply pained to learn that HH Srimad Vidhyadhiraj Terth Sripad Vader Swamiji of Shree Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Mutt, Partagli. Goa has attained Mahanirvaan. A scholar, sage and true companion on the needy. HH extolled the virtue of charity.”
BJP State president Sadanand Shet Tanavade said, “His Holiness Srimad Vidhyadhiraj Teerth Sripad Vader Swamiji of Shree Gokarn Partagali Jivottam Math attained Mahanirvan Today. Swamiji was a true humanist in the best traditions of our ancient culture. His thoughts and teachings will continue to guide his followers and disciples.”
Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte said, “The ascension of His Holiness Srimad Vidhyadhiraj Teerth Sripad Vader Swamiji of Shree Gokarn Partagali Jivottam Math, Partagali Goa to heavenly abode leaves a huge cultural, social and spiritual void. His teachings will continue to inspire and guide us forever.”
