NAVIN JHA talks to the school authorities in Vasco to check on measures adopted by them to prevent incidents

Safety of children in schools is the prime concern of all the parents. While some schools have learnt lessons from incidents reported at other schools across India and have adopted safety measures by installing CCTV cameras and by deploying security personnel/watchman at the entrance/exit gate, many schools and importantly the government schools in Mormugao Taluka are yet to take a serious call on this issue.

In a ground report by Herald investigation team, it was noticed that almost all the government schools as well as few other government-aided schools in the taluka still provide an easy access to outsiders inside the school campus.

Herald also revisited MPT-run Deepvihar School at Headland Sada where a seven-year-old girl was raped inside the school toilet in 2013. Interestingly during a security reality check by team herald, it was also noticed that this school has duly learnt a lesson from the past incident and has initiated stringent measures by intensifying security inside the school.
