BICHOLIM: Upset by the hardships faced by the families of young children in Mathwada, Pilgao, residents have urged authorities to set up ar a proper Anganwadi in the village.

Sources say the Anganwadi has been running on rented premises for the last several years even as the local panch has repeatedly asked for a permanent venue.  “There are no facilities in the Anganwadi and the Anganwadi workers somehow manage to care for the children. We have communicated all our issues to the local MLA and he has promised us required support,” village panch Nilesh Jalmi told Herald.

“We are facing problems and our children do not even have a toilet to use in the Anganwadi. So, we request the local MLA to look into the matter,” said a parent, Prajakta Kavlekar.

Another resident said that there are 11 students in the Anganwadi and expressed surprise that the elected representatives have not upgraded the existing facilities.
