Police solve 11-month-old child kidnapping case in 24 hours

MARGAO: The Vasco Police within 24-hours arrested two accused from Maharashtra, allegedly involved in kidnapping an 11-month-old baby from the port town.

According to the police, one Abhishek Dhania, a woman from Karnataka and staying on the footpath at Vasco lodged a complaint at the Vasco police station on May 12, stating that two persons namely Deepak Yadav (Langda) and Kani, both residing on the footpath near Sai Babas Temple at Vasco, kidnapped her minor son, aged 11 months from her legal guardianship. The incident occurred on May 11 evening.

In a swift operation, the police traced both the accused couple, who were proceeding to Mahim, Mumbai along with the child and apprehended them with the assistance of Pydhonie police station, Maharashtra. 

PSI Yeshwant Mandrekar is conducting further investigation under supervision of Vasco PI Anand Shirodkar and SDPO Gurudas Kadam. An offence under Section 363 read with 34 IPC and Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act 2003 has been registered against both the accused.
