VASCO: The electoral fate of 220 candidates contesting the panchayat elections in Mormugao taluka will be decided on Wednesday. 

Polling will be held in 62 wards of seven village panchayats namely Cortalim, Quelossim, Chicalim, Sancoale, Chicolna-Bogmalo, Velsao Pale-Issorcim and Cansaulim-Arossim-Cuelim from Mormugao taluka. 

One candidate, Manuel P F Silva, has already been declared elected unopposed from ward 4 of Cortalim Village Panchayat.

The polling personnel teams along with the polling materials and ballot boxes left for their respective polling stations on Tuesday evening. The polling booths are situated in the Keshav Smruti High School, Dabolim; Regina Mundi High School, Chicalim; Government Primary Schools situated at Zuarinagar and at Zari, Sancoale have been identified as sensitive polling booths.

As many as 365 polling staff will be engaged at the 73 polling stations across the taluka, along with police personnel to ensure that the polling booths are secure, and the proceedings, smooth.
