PONDA: Government officials have already provided washroom and drinking water facilities at Ponda bus stand, while other facilities will be provided within two months. This was decided at a meeting chaired by Ponda Additional Deputy Collector Pundalik Khorjuvekar with officials of different departments along with NGO GoaCan, on Wednesday. The meeting was held to discuss the lack of proper facilities at KTC bus stand Ponda. 

GoaCan Coordinator Roland Martins had complained and listed out the lack of basic facilities, including toilets, two weeks ago.

After meeting, Roland Martins told media that Ponda Additional deputy collector Pundalik Khorjuvekar chaired the meeting with officials of various department including Fire, RTO , Civil Supply etc. The officials of PWD were absent. The officials assured their action plan to fulfill various other facilities would be implemented. This includes installation of signages and destination boards at bus bays. There are 14 routes operating from KTC bus stand.

The civil supply officials assured to act upon complaints filed in complain register book. 

It was also decided to install fire safety equipment, depute install traffic police at entry and exit points for safety of commuters. The Police will patrol the area till the last bus departs the area at around 8.30 pm.  

The review of all the pending works will be taken in a meeting two months later. It was also decided to clear the garbage at the bus stand on a daily basis by signing agreement with KTC and local Bandora Panchayat or the Ponda Municipality. Roland Martins appreciated the officials of various departments for their cooperation and thanked the media for highlighting problems at the bus stand.
