PONDA: The road leading to the Ponda bus stand will get a new lease of life after four years as the file pertaining to repair and asphalted has been cleared at last.
It may be recalled that the internal roads, parking bays and the road leading to the 30-year-old Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) bus stand at Ponda, were riddled with potholes and the expenditure file was stuck for government approval.
The Kadamba bus terminus at Ponda happens to be a major inter-State bus stand where commuters occupy the premises on a regular basis for travelling various parts of Goa. However, the KTC bus stand parking bays as well as entry and exit roads were full of potholes and dangerous for commuters.
The work on asphalting began on Friday in the presence of local MLA and Power Minister Ramkrishna Sudin Dhavalikar and Bandora Panchayat.
Meanwhile, recently the KTC bus stand shed got new coat of Paint. The roofing work however is pending and locals have given an eight-day ultimatum to the government to put things in place.
