MAPUSA: The parents of primary school students from Mapusa on Tuesday raised objection to signing of a consent letter and risking their children’s life by sending them to school.
The consent letter states that if any untoward incidents occur during the school hours, including the child get infected to COVID-19 infection it will be the sole responsibility of the parent and not the school.
Showing resentment, a group of parents said that they are not ready to sign the consent letter and send their children to school.
“The government reopened the schools when the academic year is almost about to end. We are forced to send our children against our wishes and now the schools want the parents to sign a consent letter otherwise the students will be not allowed to attend the classes nor give the study material. How can we sign a consent letter and send our children to the school while risking their lives. What was the need to restart the primary schools is the first thing I want to ask the government,” a parent Shradha Arolkar said.
“If the government is not ready to take the responsibility then how can they expect the parents to sign a consent letter and send their children to the schools? Whom the government is trying to target? We don't agree to this clause of signing a consent letter,” another parent said.
