PANJIM: The Porvorim Police on Friday nabbed the abscondinga main accused in the Rehban Khan murder case and said that love triangle was the primary reason behind the crime.

Speaking to reporters, Superintendent of Police (SP), North, Akshat Kaushal, IPS, said, "Initially we had arrested five persons who were involved in the murder case but the main accused was absconding. Today, we have arrested the main person. He has been identified as Vikash Yada (22). He is a resident of Orda-Candolim. In total, we have made six arrests in the case."

Kaushal said that through initial investigation it has been revealed that there was a love triangle because of which the murder was committed.

"We are investigating all angles. We are also questioning the girl and other people to see what their role is. There was a fight between the two boys and according to the accused, the deceased had certain photographs of a female friend and he was trying to tell him to delete those pictures. During their discussion, they had an altercation which quickly turned into a physical fight in which other people also got involved which eventually led to his death," the SP said.

He said police suspect involvement of more people in the crime and therefore there is likelihood of subsequent arrests.

Kaushal said the crime was committed at two three places and finally the body was thrown near the Audit Bhavan.

On Wednesday, the Porvorim police arrested Khatesh Kandolkar, Suman Barik, Sachin Sahani, Tanay Kandolkar, and Sachin Singh, all in their twenties and residents of Candolim in connection with the case.
