PANJIM: Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Town and Country Planning (TCP) Chandrakant Kavlekar has urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to investigate the ‘fake’ complaint alleging corruption in the change in zone process by the department.

A complaint purported to have been sent to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and investigation agencies, by a New Delhi-based developer, over the alleged corruption in the TCP Department went viral on Wednesday. The builder, who owns two properties in Goa, alleged mismanagement by TCP Department led by a woman.

Responding to the letter, Kavlekar said some ‘agents’ and ‘dealers’ have started working to malign his image as well as of the department. He alleged that the agents have created a fake identity with the name Gupta for spreading rumours on social media.

“To know the people behind this conspiracy, I have requested the Chief Minister on Wednesday to undertake serious investigation on this matter. He has agreed and instructed the government machinery to take this issue on a serious note,” Kavlekar said.

He said that there is no such complaint filed before the Chief Minister or any other forum exactly contrary to the viral message on social media, suggesting that it was meant only to be on social media with an intention to create illusion in public. “Investigation will bring everything before the public,” he said.

Deputy Chief Minister said right from day one, he has been stating that he needs to study this department thoroughly before taking any major decisions. “I have not even formulated TCP Board hurriedly nor even cleared any proposal of land conversation. I have not made any hurry in doing all these, because my intentions were crystal clear. Due to this, no wonder dealers and agents who were dreaming to get land deals cleared illegally, got frustrated, these people are now trying to damage the clean image of this government,” he said.
