Attacks BJP for failure to solve mining, unemployment issues
PANJIM: Attacking the BJP-led governments at the Centre and the State for its failures on the mining issue and unemployment, Congress party stated that problem-makers cannot be solution-givers.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) general secretary and spokesperson Yatish Naik said “Problem-makers cannot be solution-givers. They have no solution for the problem (mining) but have consistently maintained that only they can solve the problem.”
Recalling former chief minister late Manohar Parrikar's statement to a senior journalist during an award ceremony in 2012, Yatish said “Manohar Parrikar has proclaimed that even before the Supreme Court could ban it, he had stopped the mining in Goa. It was Manohar Parrikar who coined the term illegal mining and the government led by him created the mining mess. And the BJP the party in power is the problem -maker.”
Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Mod, he said that in the run up to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections the BJP and Modi had promised resumption of mining. “It took the MPs representing Goans more than a year to get an appointment of the Prime Minister while one of them is a Union Minister in his cabinet. And at last when he met the mining dependents, Modi said ‘dekhta hoon’. Even after five years of being in power at the Centre they could not solve the issue and again in 2019 they're repeating the same thing and promising resumption of mining activities”, he added.
Reiterating that BJP is the problem maker, Yatish stated that for mining issue to be solved and resumption of mining activities in Goa, BJP should be out as they do not have any solutions to the problem.
Attacking the government on the employment sector, Yatish said “Government has failed in creating jobs and also killed private sector by implementing a faulty GST. Due to mining ban unemployment in the State has gone up as the mining industry provided thousands of jobs.”
He further said, “In 2014 we heard the slogan achche din ayenge, but in 2019 neither we hear that achche din aa gaye nor the same achche din ayenge slogan.”
Stating that the Congress has studied the mining issue and has the solution to resume mining activities in the state, Yatish said that the BJP does not have the intention to resolve mining issue.
