PANJIM: Fearing that unemployed youth might get into crime to ensure their own survival, Congress on Friday urged the State government to announce allowance for the educated youngsters, who have lost their job due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Addressing the media persons, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Secretary Amarnath Panjikar said with soaring unemployment and without job opportunities, there is danger of youth getting into crime related activities.
He added that the unemployment rate is the highest with 47,629 educated youth and 11,330 graduates are awaiting job opportunities in the State.
“Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant should immediately announce unemployment allowance to all the educated unemployed youth and also declare the State’s action plan to create job opportunities,” he demanded.
