Quepem: The Adivasi Sangatna Quepem, submitted a memorandum to Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar and also to the Agriculture Director and Quepem Deputy Collector.
They demanded for an amalgamation of survey holdings and requested to provide subsidy to all farmers for harvesting irrespective of it being done manually or by using a machine
“The survey holdings particularly those cultivated by the farmers are not financially sound as they are of a very small area , making it unaffordable for them to cultivate them using modern technology, “they added.
The memorandum further states that to overcome this problem, presently most of the tenants/farmers of a particular field have come together, mutually divided the paddy field into ‘mag or ‘patches’ and now they are cultivating the same.
“This has made agriculture economical as they could use modern technology. However the survey records remained as it is. Today, through this memorandum, the Sangatna has demanded that those tenants/farmers who have amalgamated their paddy portions and who wants to record the same accordingly in the survey records, are permitted to do so and the concerned revenue authorities should be directed in that regard,” they added.
