PANJIM: Sahitya Academy has conferred an award for children’s literature for the book titled “Chitkulya Chinkichye Vishaal Vishwa” written by Rajshree Bandodkar Karapurkar, a physics teacher at PES Higher Secondary School, Farmagudi.

Incidentally, this book has earlier won the Konkani Kala Kendra and Konkani Bhasha Mandal awards.

The story looks at the life of “Chinki” the baby ant as she goes through her life guided by her mother who assists her in all the problems and their conversation varies from understanding nature to the philosophy of life.

In the process, the mother teaches her child the various chapters that happen every day including the life cycle of water from condensation to vapourisation and how water droplets are formed or how the clouds that float in the sky came into existence.

Rajshree has always tried to make learning easy for the students through her writings and educative animation films.

In fact, her animation film on Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary was selected in the top 10 films at IFFI 2010.
