MARGAO: Children’s Court housed in Shram Shakti Bhavan at Patto in Panjim is not following the checklist for the child friendly guidelines as mentioned in Standard Operating Procedures for Child Friendly Courts by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights including the specification for use of professionals and experts in assisting the child at pre-trial and trial stages, claimed Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco.
Taking serious note of the same, MLA on Monday urged the Chief Minister to make Children's Court including the Fast Track Court, which was established for POSCO (Protection of Children from sexual offences) child friendly.
In a letter to CM Pramod Sawant, he also appealed to instruct the authorities in the State government including the Directorate of Women and Child Development to cater to issues of children especially on Children’s Court and on crime against children with sensitivity and alacrity.
