MARGAO: The Rumdamol Davorlim gram sabha on Sunday resolved to request the police and Transport Department not to issue challans to the villagers for riding two-wheelers without a helmet within the village on grounds that they often travel a short distance.

Sarpanch Isha Naik argued that often people go to the masjid which is nearby and are issued challans for not wearing a helmet. “When they travel on the main road without helmet it is right to issue them a challan but that should be avoided when they travel a short distance,” she said. The problem faced by the people due to parking of vehicles by the roadside dominated the gram sabha which resolved not to allow such activity in the village.

The VP was asked to demolish 2 illegal sheds constructed in its property by some people to park their vehicles. The sarpanch said a show cause notice has been served to the persons occupying these sheds.
