PANJIM: The Special Investigative Team (SIT) probing the land grabbing cases, have booked 14  persons for allegedly preparing forged documents, cheating and grabbing land in Anjuna from the rightful owner. This takes the total number of cases of land grabbing with the SIT to 40. 

The SIT booked 14 persons namely Mathew Antorio D’souza, Church Gate, Mumbai, Devanand Prabhakar Kavlekar, Pilern, Bardez, Goa, Peter John Vaz, Anjuna, Felix Noronha, Chapora, Akash Chaudhary, Karnal, Haryana, Seema Chaudhary, Haryana, Alcantro D’Souza alias AlcantroTheophilio D’Souza, June D’Souza, Archibald Xavier D’Souza, Tereza D’Souza, Duler, Mapusa, Maxi Meena D’Souza (Known as Maximina Candida D’Souza alias Max D’Souza, Tina D’Souza Alias Tina Antoinette, Veronica D’Souza alias Veronica Olivia D’Souza, Duler, Mapusa, Rohan Raganath Harmalkar, Goltim, Tiswadi and others for the offence. 

The 14 accused persons have been booked under sections 465, 466, 467, 468, 471, 420 read with 120-B of IPC. 

The case came to light after the Antonio Savio D’Costa, from Costawaddo, Camurlim, Bardez, who is the power of attorney holder of the actual owner of the property complained that prior to August 13, 2022 accused persons hatched criminal conspiracy and further of cheated the rightful owner of the property by preparing forged/fake documents of property survey No. 444/8, of Anjuna Village. The accused persons produced the same as genuine before concerned authorities to transfer the ownership rights of the said property. 

Investigating Officer, Police Inspector Suraj Samant from the SIT, said, “We are collecting the documentary evidences of the land grabbing cases like this one, which is the latest. The idea is to make a strong case against the accused,” he said.
