SANGUEM: The newly elected Chairperson of Sanguem Municipal Council Sweta Supraj Naik Tari on Thursday conducted a joint site inspection of the ongoing project work of laying of drinking water pipeline from Dando to Sanguem town.
Councillor Sayyed Ikbal, Municipal Engineer Suhas Phaldessai and engineers from the PWD Water Supply Division were present.
The work of laying the new water pipeline started last week in order to provide interrupted drinking water supply to the town and other nearby villages.
With major portion of road leading to Sanguem town from Dando being dug, lot of hardship is faced by the commuters as the project work is undertaken at a time when monsoons are round the corner.
Considering the problems faced by the locals and to avoid the contractor leaving the work of tarring the road in incomplete condition, the newly elected Chairperson had a joint site inspection of the ongoing project work.
During the course of joint site inspection, the Assistant Engineer attached to the Water Supply Department H Joshi assured to get the road repaired and re-tarred before the onset of the monsoons.
Joshi also assured to take total responsibility of maintaining the road and further undertake to repair the road if any potholes appear on the road during the next six months.
Chairperson also directed to clear the mud which has flown into the water drains during the project work to assure that the drains do not get choked during the monsoons.
