PANJIM: Sabina Martins of Bailancho Saad is among six women across India, who have been invited by FIFA to attend the official launch of ticketing for the Under-17 Women’s World Cup in New Delhi on August 5. They will also be presented with the first tickets for the tournament.

India is hosting the U-17 Women’s World Cup championship to be played at three venues, Bhubaneshwar, Mumbai and Goa from October 11 to 30 this year. Speaking to Herald, Martins said that she has been invited by FIFA to attend the official ticketing launch event by the Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Anurag Thakur at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi this Friday.

“FIFA is honouring women who have done exemplary work for society as the first ticket holders for the tournament. I will be handed over the first ticket of India’s first-ever FIFA women’s tournament along with five other women,” she said.

“People do appreciate that we work for the betterment of society,” Martins said pointing to the invitation for the legend football match and ticketing launch. The legend match will feature some of the biggest names in football including two-time Olympic champions from the USA, Lindsay Tarpley.
