MARGAO: On a complaint filed by one local from Sao Jose de Areal, the Block Development Officer, Salcete has initiated an inquiry into the matter pertaining to the alleged signing of panchayat documents by two former sarpanchas, despite the panchayat body being dissolved on June 18.
However, Adwin Carvalho, secretary of Village panchayat Sao Jose de Areal has totally refuted the allegations and said that he was just helping those former members of the panchayat body to draft the application pertaining to no dues certificate.
As per the complaint filed by Menino Santana Fernandes, two former sarpanchas along with the secretary were involved in committing forgery on the panchayat records and signing panchayat documents on July 6 and thereafter on August 3.
“I have material evidence in this regard which will be produced very soon. Since the body was dissolved on June 18, what documents have these ex-sarpanchas signed when they are out of office? Both these incidents took place in the absence of an administrator,” he stated.
He said the above issue is serious in nature and the concerned authorities need to take immediate action.
Admitting that his office has received a complaint in this regard, Paritosh Phaldesai, BDO, Salcete said that he has asked the concerned secretary to submit a detailed report to the office at the earliest.
