Saligao panchas, group members meet AE to discuss power issues

Member of Save Saligao Group raises issues faced by the villagers such as frequent power outages, low voltage, load-shedding, pre-monsoon works and non-functional street lights

SALIGAO: Panch members from Saligao Village Panchayat along with few members of Save Saligao Group met Assistant Engineer Anil Kumar to discuss various electricity related issues, on Monday. 

The people are fed up with the frequent load-shedding which is affecting the daily life and voltage fluctuations damaging equipments over the last few months. The villagers demanded answers as well as solutions to their problem.

Member of Save Saligao Group Mario Cordeiro told Herald that they raised issues faced by the villagers such as frequent power outages, low voltage, load-shedding, pre-monsoon works and non-functional street lights.  

“He said that there was a need for a new sub-station. At the same time there is loss of power due to old and corroded conductors which need to be replaced. The assistant engineer also pointed out that there was a need for an additional transformer to be installed in the village to solve the power woes. In front of us he called the concerned person and asked him to make sure that non-functional street lights are replaced,” said Cordeiro.  

The assistant engineer assured the gathering that the issues related to electricity will be solved over the next two month’s time frame.

The Deputy Sarpanch Pandurang Harmalkar, who is holding temporary charge as the sarpanch, was accompanied by panch members Kalpana Oraskar, Shradha Borkar and Deepak Rane.
