Sanguem: Vaibhavi Prabhu, a high school student from Netravali, Sanguem has made a written request to the Village Panchayat of Netravali to get the authorities improve the internet connectivity in the village.

Prabhu in her letter complained of the severe hardships and problems faced by the student community on account of the internet connectivity problems in the village.

She claimed that majority of the students residing in the interior areas of the village have to miss their online classes for no fault of theirs due to the poor internet connectivity.

She said, "At times we have to walk a distance of about 2 to 3 kilometres to get network connectivity. We have to sit under trees by the road side thereby risking our lives and this has put the student community under tension".

It may be recalled that Herald in the past had highlighted the issue of internet connectivity in Netravali village.

Amit Naik, a social activist from the village had even travelled all the way to the main office of BSNL in Panjim to redress the villagers grievances.

The woes raised by Naik have now begun to haunt the student community. "Had  the department acted at the right time and improved the internet connectivity in the village, the student community would have been a relieved lot and would also have been in a position to attend online classes," he said.

Netravali village is also faced with a piquant position wherein the internet connectivity in the whole village fails if there is a power failure and this has affected the student community and the general public all the more, claimed Naik.

Incidentally, a couple of months back, when Naik had raised the issue, BSNL officials had visited its office at Netravali village and had assured to  solve the network issue in the village within a month. However, over  two months have elapsed but there is no improvement in the internet connectivity in the village, claimed a villager.
