SANGUEM: The villagers of Kasabwada, Jacquem, Gavaliwada and other areas on Saturday threatened to file a petition in the High Court due to the failure of PWD (Water Division) to keep up with the promise of solving their water problems.

Despite over 20 days passed since the time PWD assured to regulate water supply in the village, the department has failed in keeping its promise making the villagers continue to suffer.

It may be recalled that the villagers led by Amit Naik has complained of severe water problems faced by them. They have mentioned that the women folk have to spend considerable amount of time waiting for the water to flow into their taps in the absence of any fixed timings being followed by the department’s employees.

Naik had also complained that the department’s employees are releasing the water at their own whims and fancies making the villagers suffer and had also urged for the change of filters and sand in the water tanks to provide potable water to the villagers.

Immediately, after the issue being raised by Naik, the PWD officials led by Assistant Engineer Gurunath Bissenhalli and accompanied by Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar had convened a meeting in the village and had assured to resolve the drinking water supply problems within a period of eight days.

AE Bissenhalli had even gone on record to state that the tender for the installation of filters and change of sand have been issued and that the problems would be rectified soon. However, over 20 days have passed and the monsoon is also fast approaching but the department have failed in solving the water problems. Naik, who is spearheading the campaign, has now threatened to file a petition in the High Court if the issue is not resolved within the next few days.
