MARGAO: Fearing disruption and attack to selected gram sabha members, villagers of Sao Jose De Areal have requested the Block Development Officer to provide police protection at the gram sabha scheduled on November 20. It is pertinent to note that the Sao Jose De Areal Village Panchayat will be having the gram sabha after almost one years of a long gap. In a letter to Block Development Officer, Menino Fernandes requested police protection to the gram sabha, as anti-social elements are expected to disrupt the meeting and possibly assault selected gram sabha members to accomplish their evil desires. “Certain anti-social elements for their involvement in alleged illegal constructions are expected to disrupt and obstruct the villagers and social activists in the meeting.
