VASCO: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday went vocal for local focussing on potential local issues in the State  whole addressing a well-attended public meeting at Zuarinagar in support of party candidates contesting May 7 Lok Sabha polls.

Modi touched upon tourism and fisheries sector and said that the State had followed saturation approach in implementing various Centrally-sponsored schemes be it providing 100 per cent toilets as part of ODF scheme, electricity, LPG connections and tap water connections in all villages.

Stating that his government had paid special attention to Goa, Modi said that the Centre created separate department for fisheries for the welfare of fishermen and other fisher-folk and strengthening their livelihoods. The Kisan Credit Cards were distributed to fishermen and now their insurance amount will be increased while, special clusters will be created to increase fish production and processed fish.

The Prime Minister said that Goa was the first to vaccinate 100 per cent of the Covid-19 vaccine so that foreign tourists could start coming to Goa. Two crore more foreign tourists arrived in the country under the BJP government than the ‘INDI Alliance’, which ultimately benefited Goa. Also e-tourist Visa benefitted the State while, foreign exchange too doubled in the touristic State.

“This is Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas. There is no discrimination in giving benefits to all. Goa is a model of it and the Sawant and his team has achieved saturation approach,” Modi said.

“I have a different relationship with Goa. Every turning point in my life has happened in Goa. I believe my destiny is written in Goa. But now we have to write the fate of India, and for that, we have to defeat the anti-national forces on May 7, which is polling day. The development work by the NDA government in the last 10 years is just a trailer, we have a lot more to do. I need your blessings, your vote for the lotus, which will go directly into Modi's account,” he said, expressing confidence that the people of Goa will set a record voting percentage this time.

The Prime Minister said that BJP is the first government at the Centre to worry about Goa, with two airports operational as the number of tourists continues to rise. BRICS, G-20, women's football tournament was organised with the aim of making Goa an international conference tourism hub. Goa sportspersons will definitely be given priority if India gets a chance to host the Olympic Games.
