Vasco: Norwegian cruise liner MV Norwegian Escape made its maiden visit to Mormugao Port on Monday with 473 stranded Goan seafarers on board. All the seafarers' swab samples were collected and sent for COVID testing  and the test results are likely to be available by Tuesday morning, said MPT official Jerome Clement.

On Monday, Clement, MPT Sr. Dy. Transportation Manager along with the cruise team and shipping agent M/s JM Baxi coordinated the entire signing off operation with various agencies and District Administration so that the Goan seafarers could have a smooth sign off by duly observing the SOPs.

The Directorate of Health Services team of around 20 officials worked tirelessly to see that the sign off operation was a success. The seafarers will be kept on board the cruise liner till the test results are obtained and later they will be escorted to their respective home town to undergo mandatory quarantine.
