Security Coordination Committee created to ensure smooth organisation of G20 Summit meetings in April

PANJIM: Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh has constituted the G20 Security Coordination Committee, which will be headed by the Inspector General of Police Ombir Singh Bishnoi.

A meeting of all the committee members which included the DGP, Collectors of North Goa and South Goa, Superintendent of Police - North and South Goa, Traffic ATS Special Branch and the representatives various departments of Goa was held on Saturday.

The meeting was aimed at ensuring proper coordination among the different security agencies and departments for when the State hosts G20 meetings next month.

At least eight of the 200-odd meetings of the G20 Summit on key sectors such as tourism, health, sustainability goals along with visits of the international delegates are going to be held in Panjim, while delegates are likely to visit various parts of the State during their stay.

The first event of the G20 summit is scheduled to be held in Goa in April 2023 wherein heads of the international group of the largest industrialised and developing nations, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union are all bound to attend.
