CALANGUTE: The Calangute MLA, Michael Lobo launched a sewage tanker and towing vehicle for the people of his constituency, on Saturday. Candolim Sarpanch Blaize Fernandes attended the launch function.

The two new vehicles have been introduced to solve the issues of contamination due to sewage leakage and the illegal parking.

Sarpanch Fernandes said that people could not afford to get sewage tankers due to which sewage was allowed to flow in to the drains and on roads.

“A lot of complaints were coming to the panchayats. I requested the MLA and he has given us not only a sewage tanker but also a towing vehicle to clear the traffic on the road. People are spotted parking in no parking areas. He has also promised to provide the panchayat with an ambulance very soon,” Blaize said.

On the occasion, Lobo urged Candolim locals to support the panchayat in their endeavors.

Commenting on the clamour the resignation of Manohar Parrikar as chief minister, Lobo said, “Parrikar rose to become the defence minister of the country. He is the only person to decide his resignation; I feel that even the central leadership will not decide on his resignation. Whatever needs to be formed in Goa like a three member committee, cabinet advisory committee or an acting CM till Parrikar gets well will also be decided. Amit Shah will come out clear on this either today or tomorrow.”
