PANJIM: The misunderstanding between Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane was sorted out by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on Wednesday evening.

According to BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanawade, the Union Minister spoke to both and discussed the matter. Tanawade also ruled out Cabinet reshuffle or change in portfolios of Cabinet Ministers.

It may be recalled that differences surfaced between Sawant and Rane following deaths of COVID-19 patients in the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim, on early Tuesday morning.

Few hours after deaths, Rane admitted that the deaths occurred due to interrupted oxygen supply and urged the Bombay High Court at Goa to probe the matter and take over the COVID management system.

On the other hand, the Chief Minister rushed to the GMC and visited the COVID wards in a bid to tide over the crisis.

He denied that the patients died due to oxygen shortage and claimed that it’s for doctors to comment on how patients died.

Same evening the Chief Minister held a marathon meeting with the GMC doctors and Nodal Officers so as to streamline the oxygen supply.

The Health Minister, who abstained during the meeting however stated that he had a detailed meeting with the Chief Minister on Wednesday evening and discussed commissioning another 250-300 beds and more than 150 HFNOs in the Super-Specialty Block of GMC.
