VALPOI: The Valpoi Block Congress Committee on Friday submitted a memorandum to the Chief Conservator of Forest demanding to shift the IIT Project from Sattari Taluka due to ecological and environmental reasons.
“We are strongly opposing the IIT project in Shel Melauli village. The villagers of Melauli have been expressing their apprehension as well as the Opposition parties over the proposed IIT project, since long time,” said Dashrath Mandrekar, president Congress Block Committee, Valpoi.
“This is the only area in the village where excellent forest cover is left, said Mandrekar.
