SANGUEM: Panchayat member from Molcornem village Flazer D’Costa has warned of increasing sightings of wild animals close to human habitations and on the main roads of the village in recent times.

In a complaint addressed to the Range Forest Officer, Quepem, earlier this month, D’Costa informed the Forest Department of the recent sighting of a bison on a busy village road, in the vicinity of houses.

D’Costa said that the bison roam the village very early in the morning, around dawn, and that it is difficult to notice the huge animals in the poor light, especially since they sometimes run across the roads with no warning.

D’Costa also complained about the increasing number of wild boar in the locality and has urged the Forest Department to take preventive measures to avoid any untoward incidents like animal attacks and road accidents.

The pancha has also urged the villagers and others travelling on the Molcornem-Rivona road to switch their headlights on in the early morning and late evening hours.
