VASCO: Vasco police in a surprise raid busted an interstate illegal IPL betting racket of cricket matches operating from a residential colony flat in Vaddem and arrested six non-Goan persons.
Those who were arrested included Vijay Jat (23) from Rajasthan along with Dilip Kurkreja (31), Gulshan Tikyani (30), Rohit Nadnani (24), Girish Lalwani age (26) all from Nagpur and Prakash Singh Kanojiya (29) from Madhya Pradesh.
Further, Police have recovered two laptops, several mobile phones, two improvised devices connected with mobile phones for receiving phones calls, one television set and some writing from the site during the surprise raid.
As per the police sources this gang has been operating since September 19. The flat was provided by one person from Vasco who is also reportedly connected to the betting gang. Police said this Vasco-based person will be arrested soon. All the six accused are in police custody and further investigation is in progress.
